New Brutalist Image 1949–55

Interesting but depressing exhibition at Tate Britain looking at the collaboration of Paolozzi, Nigel Henderson (photographer), Alison and Peter Smithson (architects) and Ronald Jenkins (structural engineer) and particularly their work on the Hunstanton School and their exhibition of 1953.

This was an interestingly displayed exhibition with photographs of the school scrolling around a corner of the room and displays in the middle in cabinets shown like draftsman’s tables used by architects with low overhead lighting. It gave a real sense of what their working environment and the architecture they were working on might have been like.
