Absence Presence

Small exhibition at the NuEdge Gallery in Holetown, Barbados of paintings by Terence Rupert Piggot. These were soothing abstracts of paint built up in layers which your eye started to make into landscapes. I particularly liked the ones which used gold paint which would have worked beautifully in a modern Barbados flat. One can but dream!

Paper and wood : Ink and paint

Small exhibition at the NuEdge Gallery in Holetown, Barbados of paintings and prints by Dennis de Caires. These were lovely still lives of fruit. Each painting then had a related set of prints based on it in various colour ways. The effect of the wall of prints was powerful. I particularly liked the set called ‘Old School Mangos”, a bowl of mangos set against wood background. Dennis is currently Associate Professor of Fine Art at Richmond University.
