The Sony World Photography Awards 2022

Excellent exhibition at Somerset House to showcase the shortlisted entries and winners in this year’s Sony World Photography Awards created by the World Photography Organisation. I always enjoy this show which introduces you not only to some amazing pictures but also to some fascinating stories and people. I liked the fact that this year the professional and open entries were shown together. The West Wing had the bulk of the show with 14 rooms of works from photographs of the Capital riot, through portraits of people in different Greek traditional outfits, wonderful wildlife pictures of foxes, ruined houses in a Germany village covered in trees and surfers off The Hague. My favourite image, shown here, was by Vicente Ansola and was called “Exodus Sunflowers” which shows a field of sunflowers but looking like women walking across a field.
