Landscape Photographer of the Year 2020

Interesting exhibition in London Bridge Station of the finalists in this years Landscape Photographer of the Year competition.   The photographs are on show in a public display on the lower level of the station and this was a welcome chance to look at some art work as I fled London to re-join my bubble for Christmas.   There were some stunning images.   I loved John Hayward’s dramatic shot of cooling towers being demolished which won the “Changing Landscapes” category and the inclusion of city scenes as well as rural such as Linda Wride’s picture of a red metal staircase from the old Olympic Park. The picture shown here is Aleks Gijka’s “Drama at the Lighthouse, Wales” which won the “Your View” category. I love the way it captures a second in time.

Small pop-up exhibition at London Bridge station marking   National Album Day. Information boards highlight the influential, best-selling and iconic albums of Scotland, the North, the Midlands and London and the South. Each region shows the best sellers in that area then two guests from the music business suggesting the most influential and most iconic by artists from that area. Each featured album’s information includes artist, album title, date, a short write up and album cover. It was interesting to realise where artists come from plus to be reminded of old favourites. This was a nice diversion when travelling. Now closed.

Landscape Photographer of the Year 2018

Nice exhibition   at London Bridge Station of the winner and runners up in the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2018. I was delighted to find this show at London Bridge when catching a train as I’d missed it when it was at Waterloo. It is now touring the country so do check out the link and see if it’s coming to anywhere near you. I always like to see photography in public spaces and there were some lovely works in this show. I liked the fact it included townscapes as well as countryside and looked at details as well as big scenes. Highlights included Alex Wolfe-Warman’s aerial views of rows of terraced houses, Peter North’s stunning picture of raindrops on a washing line each reflecting a tree and Shaun Quilter’s long view of the Peak District. Closes on 10 March 2019
