Designs of the Year 2014

Fascinating exhibition at the Design Museum of international design projects across seven categories, architecture, product, fashion, furniture, graphics, digital and transport.

The show was very eclectic including designs for clothes, buildings, apps are more. However as well as looking at design in the decorative sense it also looked at practical design of things such as a syringe which turns red when exposed to the air to show whether it was sterile.  There were lots of items about branding the most interesting being how the Whitney Museum used a W in different ways on different sized publications.

My favourite was a screw top bottle cap which doubled as a building block that works with Lego to encourage people to use and play with them rather than throwing them away. I bought four in the shop and can’t stop playing with them although I haven’t tried them on a bottle yet! It was also great to see the new chair design for the Bodleian Library.
