A Physician’s Cabinet: Sir Han Sloanes Practices of Collecting and Cataloguing

Small exhibition at the British Museum focusing on medical related objects from Sir Han Sloane’s collection which was one of the founding collections of the museum.

Sloane was doctor to George II and collected a lot of medical related items, The show used these to show his cataloguing methods and included some of the items with their original catalogue records. As a librarian I was proud of him as an early information manager!

Objects included a Chinese ear cleaner,  a print of Siamese twins and a stunning print of dissected testicles.
