Collection Lab

Informative exhibition at the Design Museum looking at the role people play in design from the designer, through the manufacturer to the user using objects from the collection.

The layout was a bit cluttered and it wasn’t always clear where to go next but I liked the labelling which gave a short overview, yellow labels with sound bites and more detail on the actual objects. You could go round the show looking at different themes.

I liked the fact the show looked at organisation of information as a design feature not just at objects. I also liked the section on teapots with a lovely film with people talking about their favourite pots and why they liked them.

In the section on designing to solve problems there was an interesting look at a new design of commode for hospitals to cut down the spread of MRSA.

However my favourite object has to be the Pyrex willow pattern plate. I so want one!
