Norman Stevens: selected prints

Small exhibition at the Royal Academy of prints by Norman Stevens RA.

These ranged from his lovely detailed etchings of the early 1970s through to the bolder screen prints and coloured etchings of the 1980s.

I particularly liked a series of etching of parts of buildings a plants such as one of  a house shutter and lilies, they gave an unusual view of a property but somehow implied the life that was going on inside it.

I loved the colours in the later works and the series he did looking at the effects of the Great Storm of 1987 especially “Black Walnut Tree 21 October  1987” which was a lovely study of texture with lime and lemon leaves.
