Queen’s House

Wonderful refurbishment of the Queen’s House in Greenwich which has seen it restored and decorated.

I always love popping into the Queen’s House and have missed it while it’s been closed, but it was well worth the wait! All the rooms were looking bright and clean and I really liked the new ceiling painting by contemporary artist Richard Wright. It looked best from the first floor landing when you could see the flames of gold leaf.

It was also good to see that the opportunity had been taken to rehang some of the National Maritime Museum’s art collection and it was great to see Orazio Gentileschi’s painting “Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife” there on loan from the Royal Collection as a homage to the Gentileschi, the ceiling’s original artist.  I also loved the small room of portraits.
