A New Song (To an Old Tune)

Small exhibition at the Foundling Museum of paintings and prints by Nicola Bealing based the narratives of 18th century ballads.

The pictures had a Paulo Rego feel and had wonderful titles such as “The Disappointed Pastry Cook”. The display included a copy of that and well as “Shameless Joan”. They relied heavily on toilet humour so it was hard to find an image to use on the blog but they were fun and such a nice idea to take inspiration from the old ballads.

Closes 1 September 2019
