Kurdistan in the 1940s : photography by Anthony Kersting

Interesting exhibition at the Courtauld Gallery spotlighting a donation to their photographic collection of architectural images by Anthony Kersting.

This show looks in particular at his pictures of Kurdistan from the 1940s many of them of architectural features which have been destroyed in recent conflicts. The commentaries on each work were his own notes which were written on the back of the pictures including the date it was taken.

There were some insightful pictures of people but I picked this one of a Assyrian gateway as I love this style of art and architecture.

Closes 20 May 2022
