Picture This

Sweet exhibition at the British Library looking at how ten classic children’s books have been illustrated over the years.

It was fascinating to see the impact of illustrations changed how you viewed a story and how some books have such iconic pictures such as Quentin Blake’s for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and yet lovely new editions can also appear.

The display was beautiful with some cut out sections which flapped down to show an illustration underneath.

It was particularly interesting as a day or do later I found out a friend’s partner is going to illustrate the new edition of Harry Potter, what a responsibility!
